Hi! I’m Courtney, a full-time mom, wife, and teacher. I have three adorable children-an almost 4 year old, a 2 year old, and an infant. I’m a dog mom to two beautiful but equally demanding pups. Being a teacher in the world today is tough, but if I’m being honest, being a mom is even tougher. There are some days when I don’t know how I’ll survive through the day, but despite that, it’s still the best job I have ever had, and I love those three little hooligans more than life itself.
When I started having kids, my life turned upside-down. Sure it’s chaotic and messy, but I wouldn’t trade a thing. By the time Covid hit, my son was 2 and my daughter was just born. I remember it vividly because the week after I got home from the hospital with my daughter, my school (and all schools in the country) closed and teachers began teaching remotely. At first, it was all about safety and protecting my babies. I even took my daughter’s one month photo shoot photos connected to the pandemic. If you couldn’t laugh, you’d cry.
But then the pandemic continued, and soon one month became two, two became five, five became a year, and I was quarantined at home with two toddlers trying to find ways to entertain them. I was forced to learn some free ways to keep babies entertained at home. I’m thankful for those days, trying as they were, because we were able to bond as a family. I learned in those days that sometimes all kids want is family time at home. Not the latest and greatest toys, not the most expensive summer vacations, but just parents willing to play hide-and-seek, or superheros, or trucks with them.
Since then I’ve had another baby, and things are just now starting to open back up after the pandemic. I’ve learned so much about being a mom that I thought I’d share some of my best parenting experiences and tips & tricks to raise children on a teacher’s salary, which has led me to get creative with keeping my littles entertained each summer. Some things I swear I couldn’t make-up if I tried! So follow my adventures and, if anything, you’ll get a laugh and maybe relate to some of the things happening in our crazy, chaotic, blessed life!
